Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park by road (Travel time: 4:30 hrs)
Depending on your arrival time and day, you’ll check-in your hotel in Kampala for refreshment and relaxation. Get picked up from your hotel or desired location in Kampala early morning, for a road transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Enjoy the countryside while on this journey before reaching and exploring the Equator crossing line in Kayabwe along Kampala-Masaka Road. Here, you step one foot in each hemisphere of the earth, test the gravity force and enjoy photograph moments. Proceed for lunch at Igongo Cultural Village in Mbarara.
Explore Igongo Cultural Centre after lunch, before proceeding to Lake Mburo National Park for an experiential boat ride safari on Lake Mburo to enjoy aquatic birdlife. Enjoy the ride in company of hippos along the shores of the Lake while watching and listening to a variety of bird species such as the rare Shoebill stork, grey-crowned crane, pelicans, fish eagle, and herons among others.
After the boat ride, you’ll continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal plan: dinner.
Day 2: Discover Lake Mburo National Park and Nshenyi Cultural Village
On this day, you will explore the beauty of Lake Mburo National Park and encounter the wide array of wildlife species while on a guided safari game drive. You will first get fresh early morning breakfast before getting onto the open-hatched safari vehicle for about 3-4 hours wildlife game drive safari through the spectacular savannah-dominated protected area.
You won’t miss sightings for various animals like zebras, giraffes, impalas, buffaloes, elephants, topis, warthogs, elands, and waterbucks among others.
Afterwards, you’ll continue to Nshenyi Cultural Village for an experiential and educational agricultural visit in Ntungamo district.
Set among the beautiful rolling landscape, the Nshenyi Cultural Village is home to a group of traditional farmers and the graceful, long-horned Ankole cattle. So, you will learn about these revered cattle-species, how they are catered for, not missing the milking process.
Visitors to Nshenyi have the chance to milk the cattle before helping farmers to move the cows out for grazing. You will also learn traditional crafts and the art of making ghee (a local type of butter) from the milk collected in the morning. Spend time with the friendly farming community as they share their knowledge and skills with guests.
Meanwhile, you can also opt to go for an opportunity to explore the place where three countries – Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania – meet, as well as enjoying views of the Kagera River.
You will also learn about the production of the famous ‘Eshabwe’ and enjoy a tasteful meal, before getting back to your lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala
Morning is dedicated to sightseeing around your lodge with an early lunch at your lodge. You will have an en-route game drive while exiting the Park with an opportunity to spot more wildlife. You will then return to Kampala or Entebbe to catch up on your outbound flight back home or to your next destination. Meal plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
